The Truth About Psychics

What we can and CAN'T do

“What am I thinking right this very second?”

A stranger asks me this question at least once a year. It’s usually a guy with a great sense of humor - a husband who has been a good sport and tagged along with his wife to my event… even though he’s new to the psychic world.

Of course, I can’t read minds. Not on purpose, anyway. Sometimes, it happens accidentally when my daughter dares me to guess my Christmas present. I’ll blurt out the first random object that comes to mind. A few times, I’ve been correct, but that’s the exception rather than the norm.

So, I figured I would write an article to clear up some misconceptions about psychics. Admittedly, I cannot speak on behalf of psychics around the world. Just like dog breeds or Girl Scout cookies, we’re all different. But speaking from my own point of view, here are my answers to common questions people ask about my life and my work.

Can I sense when I’ve shared a past lifetime with someone? Yes! And when it happens, it’s a wonderful feeling. The connection is hard to explain, but it’s sort of like meeting an old friend rather than meeting a stranger for the first time. I relish this when it happens because it doesn’t occur often.

Do I see dead people throughout the day? Thankfully, no. Being distracted by spirits while grocery shopping or mowing the yard would get old after a while. Most psychics have a way of “turning off the switch” so that we’re not in a heightened state of intuition every moment of the day.

How common are ghosts? Not very common. And this truth surprises most people. That said, ghosts do exist. Some people choose to hover in limbo after death. I’ve seen ghosts on multiple occasions. A few times, they were close enough that I could have reached out and touched them. But the vast majority of spirits do not remain Earth-bound. They cross effortlessly into the spirit world. Doing so is easy and instinctual… kind of like breathing. It takes a really stubborn spirit to remain here after passing… especially considering how wondrous the afterlife is.

When I’m on a date, can I sense if I will have a future with the person? Someone recently asked me this question on social media. The answer is yes. Heightened intuition certainly helps when determining long-term compatibility. However, like anyone else, I’m just a human going through human experiences. There are never any guarantees as to how a relationship will pan out years from now. That is shaped by people’s ever-changing free will.

Is it draining to be a psychic? Again, I can only speak for myself. In the past, conducting mediumship certainly took an emotional and mental toll. Assisting folks through the grief process and relaying messages from a recently departed soul is not for the faint of heart. On the flip side, doing past life appointments or writing Soul Discovery sessions for people is not mentally taxing whatsoever. I actually feel energized by the process, and it leaves me feeling exhilarated.

Do psychic abilities run in families? Absolutely they do! Psychic abilities are hereditary and passed down like family heirlooms. Of course, it’s a gift that misses some branches of the family tree. Then again, part of that comes down to a person’s willingness to accept it in the first place. A non-believer wouldn’t embrace inherited psychic abilities any more than he’d embrace male pattern baldness. As for my family, my sister Elizabeth is an intuitive healer who is also certified in hypnosis. My aunt Terry has intuitive abilities and specializes in numerology, dream interpretation, and countless other new-age modalities. My paternal grandma and maternal great-grandma also had gifts. I feel blessed to have an open-minded family. It allowed me to embrace my intuition at a relatively young age. I was twenty-nine when I began working full-time as a psychic.
