Spirit Visitors, Psychic Senses, and Heavenly Signs
Answering questions submitted on social media...
I’ve got some paranormal ponderings ripe for the picking. I put out the bat signal on my Facebook page, asking folks to submit some questions. We’ve got a few hum-dingers and a couple of head-scratchers. I love that people are so curious about the spirit world and how it overlaps with our lives here on Earth. I guess most of us like to straddle that fence separating Life and the Afterlife, craning our necks and hoping to see how the magic is made. So, without further delay, here’s a grab bag of curiosities I’ve selected from the bunch.
Hayleigh VanValkenburg asked - Are there unwanted spirits who cling to people on Earth?
Have you ever been in a group setting where there was one socially awkward person who lacked self-awareness? I bet he or she was completely harmless. But once you made small talk and gave them some attention, they probably followed you around for the rest of the evening… standing a little too closely and oversharing details about their life. Maybe you tried to put some distance between you and the person. You took a lap around the party and stopped in to use the restroom. But upon exiting, the person was waiting for you in the hallway… smiling and asking where you’ve been. Sound familiar?
Under the right circumstances, spirits can act similarly. I suppose they crave attention, and once they get a taste of it, they want even more. An “attachment” might be a strong word. It makes me think of conjoined twins… or a high school grad who takes her childhood blanket with her to college. Call it what you want, but some spirits are fond of particular people. And those people are usually intuitive. Luckily, most of these cases are completely harmless. Despite the human feeling anxious or fearful, the spirit usually does not arrive with ill intent.
Joshua Kropenski asked - Is it possible for a spirit guide to incarnate and encounter us… while still acting as our spiritual helper in Heaven?
That’s a great question, Joshua. Maybe I need to write a fictional book with this as the main plot (I’ll file that away for a rainy day.) Most spirit guides are people we knew from past lifetimes. They usually hang out in the spirit world for the duration of our current life, keeping tabs on us from afar and helping when needed. However, it’s entirely possible that if a spirit guide was an eager beaver, he might choose to incarnate while you’re only halfway through your life. If that were the case, yes, a person could cross paths with their own spirit guide. I can only imagine it would cause a rip in the space-time continuum, spilling out enough deja vu that we might need a “wet floor” sign.
As for the second part of Joshua’s question - would there now be a vacant spot in the spirit guide team now that Eager Beaver is here on Earth? Well, here’s where quantum mechanics is factored in. Something called Quantum Superposition proves it’s possible for objects (such as atoms or particles) to exist in two different places simultaneously. A particle can literally be Here and There at the same time. This has been observed in laboratories. In a scaled-up sense, if our souls operate in the same way, it would be possible for a spirit guide to remain in Heaven helping his human while also living a life on Earth by that human’s side. *If you just poured yourself a glass of bourbon, I don’t blame you* The implications are almost too much to wrap our heads around. Perhaps most astonishingly, these same quantum principles are being utilized at Google, which is actively building a quantum AI supercomputer. It’s projected to be millions (and eventually billions) of times more advanced than any computer we currently have on Earth.
Gulp. Be nice to the AI robots, everyone. When they enslave us all, maybe they’ll give us access to funny cat videos to pass the time. (Don’t worry, I’m kidding. There’s nothing to worry about. Probably.)
Liz Schlagenhauf asked - Are your psychic abilities suppressed when you are sick?
Yes. Yes, they are. I recently had Covid and during the worst of it, I was about as psychic as a door handle. The nasty little bug rounded up all my available brain cells and pushed them off a cliff. It left me in a dazed stupor, my thoughts strewn about a wasteland like trash at a landfill. I resorted to grunting one-syllable words and stopped shaving altogether. It’s funny how sickness reminded me that I’m just a few rungs up the ladder from being a fully-fledged caveman.
Luckily, I turned a corner, and the mental fog lifted a bit. My intuition rose up from whatever cave it had been hiding in… and thankfully came back in full force. I’m officially back to work using my psychic senses and writing soul discovery sessions. Sometimes, when the body shuts down, our psychic senses hibernate. Like most things, it’s like riding a bike and quickly becomes second nature when the circumstances are more favorable.
Trisha Caldwell asked - How do I get out of a spiritual funk?
Somer Satterfield DeBlanc asked similarly- What are some small, easy things a person can do to grow spiritually?
