Before discussing astronomy and energy shifts, I want to remind you that my new book comes out in twelve days! Mark your calendar (literally.) I don’t know about you, but if something isn’t on my calendar, it’s not happening. May 5th is the big day! It’s a team effort boosting a new book onto the #1 best-seller list, but we can pull it off once again. If you DO snag a copy of We’re All Just Doing Our Best via Amazon, be sure to email me proof of your purchase because it will put you in the running for a $222 Soul Discovery session (the randomly selected winner will be announced the following day via email.)
Let’s get down to brass tax. Retrograde. People are always talking about Mercury being in retrograde. What does it mean? For starters, Mercury revolves around the sun at a slower pace than Earth. Every so often, this creates an illusion. From our perspective, it looks like Mercury is rotating backward in its orbit around the sun. The result? Holistic and intuitive people blame the planet for odd anomalies during these windows of time.
Got a flat tire? Must be Mercury. Your narcissistic ex sends you a midnight text out of the blue? Mercury. Feeling low on energy? Irritable? Weird dreams? Are you constipated? Blame retrograde Mercury.
The poor planet is just floating about like it always does… minding its own business and doing laps around the sun like a NASCAR race. Maybe our planet is the one that’s backward. You’ve heard the saying, “Those who live in a glass house should not throw stones.” I want to propose the saying, “Those who live in a glass solar system should not throw asteroids.” Hey… maybe it will catch on eventually.
Is it fair to blame Mercury for our Earthly problems? No. That said, there might be a little truth to this phenomenon. After all, the full moon brings out all sorts of odd behaviors in people. If you don’t believe me, ask teachers how their students acted during the last full moon. Or, ask hospital staff if they had an interesting night when the moon was last full. They’ll give you a resounding YES. Since intuitive and spiritual people are more in tune with the energy of this planet, they might be more perceptive to shifts caused by cosmic events. For example, the vibes were electric (for better or worse) during the recent solar eclipse. Am I right?
The Universe is 13.8 billion years old. Humanity has only been present at this cosmic party for a split second of that grand timeline. And yet, as long as we’ve been here, we’ve tried finding our place among the stars. Where do we fit in? How does it all work? Can we survive and evolve past this technological infancy without self-destructing?
Time will tell. But it gives me hope that people still look to the heavens for answers. In a world where most folks are looking down (at their phones,) it’s nice to know that others are looking up. Beyond our world is an ever-expanding Universe filled with an estimated ten trillion galaxies… each containing about 100 billion stars. And around some stars are little planets. Just. Like. Mercury.
