Here we are with another installment of Stump the Psychic, otherwise known as… a Q&A session. I’ve pulled a few ponderings from the back shelf of my social media pages. I love fielding questions and interacting with curious people. People submitted some doozies this time around.

But first, a little housekeeping. This Friday’s Past Life Gallery Reading in Omaha is 100% sold out. Fear not, I’m offering a brand new event on June 14th called Soul Spark: Reigniting Happiness in Your Life. Get tickets if you’re in the Omaha area.

Also, you can win a $222 Soul Discovery session simply by purchasing my book, We’re All Just Doing Our Best, on Sunday, May 5th. It will be available on Amazon. Be sure to submit your proof of purchase via email to be entered in the drawing. The lucky winner will be announced the very next day.

Melissa slapped a question in the comment section and asked, “After I die, do I become an angel?”

Just the other night, I watched a movie I hadn’t seen since childhood. It’s called The Heavenly Kid. It’s about a greaser from the 1950s who dies in a fiery car crash. To earn his way into Heaven, he must play the role of guardian angel for a nerdy high school kid in the 1980s. As you can imagine, the leather jacket to denim jeans ratio was off the charts. The “angel” reminded me of Fonzie, and I kept waiting for him to elbow a jukebox or something. Instead, he got the teen really high, which threw the kid’s parents into a hissy fit. In retrospect, I can’t believe I was allowed to watch this as a nine-year-old. But alas, a moral unfolds, and the man-angel helps the teen realize that authenticity is more important than popularity. *Insert heartfelt sigh*

So yes, Melissa, we do become angels after we die. Not right away… but eventually. And we don’t have wings and halos, either. In a nutshell, guardian angels (spirit guides) are simply humans who are between lifetimes. At some point in the future, you (and all of us) will likely assist a human as they navigate life. By then, humans might be enslaved by AI robots. But hey, at least it will keep us angels busy, right? (Gulp.)

Presently, the spirit guides who help us are people we knew and loved from previous lifetimes. You may have a spirit guide who was your neighbor in 1700s France. And you might have another that was your best friend in ancient Egypt. Each spirit guide helps with a particular aspect of our lives. They are unique and quite funny. Luckily for me, these characters usually take the wheel during my Soul Discovery sessions, providing me with oodles of insights for my clients.

The next question was submitted by Jacki. “If someone doesn’t believe in spiritual stuff, do they change their mind once they pass away?” Ah, the skeptics. I kind of feel sorry for them. Not believing in the afterlife is like refusing to believe in Disney World just because you haven’t personally been there. For me, the logic doesn’t check out. Then again, to each their own. Some folks struggle to grasp concepts larger than the little bubble they exist within. Yes, Jacki, a person would undoubtedly change their mind about “spiritual stuff” once they’re basking in the glorious perfection of the afterlife. I’ve connected with spirits who didn’t believe while they were alive. But they were humbled and happy to be wrong once arriving there.

Kara wanted to know, “I would love to know your take on light energy versus dark energy. How do people know the difference, and what advice would you give them?

I suppose humanity exists on a spectrum of gray. Mean people are sometimes worshiped as the next coming of Christ. Nice people are accused of being evil. Black, white, dark, light. Who can tell anymore? It’s all a matter of perspective. And humans tend to clump together. We feel validated and accepted by those we deem “good.” Therefore, we assume we are good. I suppose it would require an outside observer or an unbiased third party to judge who has dark energy and who has light energy. For most, that judge is referred to as God. But then we have the slight problem of… oh, I don’t know… humans fighting for millennia over whose God is the “right” God. I’m not sure about you, but it leaves me wanting to bang my head on the table.

So, to avoid this philosophical mess, I say this to Kara… my best advice is to surround yourself with kindhearted people. Not the people who act in their own best interest, but those who act in the best interest of everyone. Seek out people who do the right thing when nobody is looking… instead of those who do the right thing only when the cameras are rolling. Strive to be kind. Spread humor, love, and hope to those who need it most. Be honest, sincere, and authentic. Think before you speak. Listen with empathy. Try your best to leave this world in better shape than it was when you arrived. If you can do this, you’ll stay in the light… and attract similar individuals into your orbit. If you encounter someone who is the opposite of what I just described, they likely have a darker energy to them. Avoid them like the plague!

Tina just wants to know, “Did I choke on candy in a previous lifetime?”

Well, Tina, the Heimlich maneuver wasn’t invented until 1974. So if a jawbreaker was lodged in your throat before that, it was probably lights out. If you’re afraid of choking this time around, that fear is likely rooted in a past life event. Fears and phobias are interesting. Sometimes, they come out of nowhere and really get a choke hold on us (pun intended.) Thankfully, it’s not just fears that follow us from one life to another. It can also be talents, interests, or innate knowledge of a subject or event. Don’t you find it odd that a five-year-old would be obsessed with the Titanic even though he’s never been on a ship or visited a museum? Or how an eight-year-old can breeze through a college algebra class? Or how brain trauma can make a person fluent in a foreign language overnight? Cases like this happen all the time worldwide. The brain can’t remember, but the soul never forgets. Sometimes a talent or interest has more to do with remembering than learning from scratch. Meanwhile, Tina, I’m sure you’re safe. Just cut that steak into bite-size pieces at dinnertime, okay?

Next was Judy, who wanted to know, “When I sleep, can my spirit mingle with my deceased loved ones?”
