There are few things I love more than a good synchronicity. Sometimes, the Universe orchestrates events that are so far beyond coincidental that they leave us with our jaws on the floor. Here are some true accounts that might leave you shaking your head.

A girl named Laura Buxton wanted to make a new pen pal, so she attached her name and address to a helium balloon and let it go. It happened to land in the yard of another girl… ALSO named Laura Buxton. They discovered they had the same pets (a rabbit, guinea pigs, and a lab.) The two have been best friends ever since.

Golfer Tiger Woods helped design a golf course in Texas. When it opened in 2016, the first person to tee off was an eleven-year-old named Tyler Cozier. While the audience looked on (including Tiger Woods himself), the boy walloped a hole-in-one!

The Montreal Juniors Hockey Team had a trio of players from 1977 to 1979 known as Les Trois Denis. Three of their players were all named Denis. There was Denis Savard, Denis Tremblay, and Denis Cyr. The real kicker? They all grew up on the same street in Verdun, Quebec. Oh, and all three had the exact same birthday - February 4, 1961.

You may have heard this one before, but the sun’s diameter is 400 times larger than the moon’s. And the sun is 400 times farther away from Earth. So, when viewed from Earth, the sun and the moon appear the same size, making the solar eclipse a spectacle that defies all logic and statistics.

Ouch! On August 17, 1987, a woman named Alice Roth took her two grandsons to a Philadelphia Phillies baseball game. A player from the other team (Richie Ashburn) hit a ball into the stands, which struck Alice in the face and knocked her unconscious. She was carried off on a stretcher by medics, but in the process, Archie hit another ball into the stands, which also struck Alice. It sounds like something out of a Saturday Night Live skit, but it absolutely happened. Her broken nose eventually healed, but I wonder if her hatred for baseball lasted a lifetime.

Here’s a head-scratcher for you… Twin boys were separated at birth and adopted by different families. One was named Jim Lewis, and the other was called Jim Springer. While they were adopted in 1940, they did not meet until they were thirty-nine years old. They discovered remarkable similarities and realized they’d virtually been living parallel lives. Both men had married twice - first to women named Linda and then to women named Betty. Both Jims had a son - one named James Allen and the other named James Alan. Both Jims worked as sheriff deputies. They drank the same brand of beer, smoked the same brand of cigarettes, and both drove the same model of Chevrolet.

Last but not least, we have the statistic-defying synchronicity of Abe Lincoln and John F. Kennedy. You should sit down for this one…
